Position Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising fabrication activities for large-scale industrial and construction projects, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, and project schedules are consistently achieved. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of structural steel solutions used in energy plants, industrial facilities, steel buildings, EOT cranes, and other complex engineering projects. Duties:
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise structural steel fabrication activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely project execution.
- Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, and technical specifications accurately to support production requirements.
- Monitor production progress and ensure compliance with project schedules, quality standards, and customer specifications.
- Supervise welding, cutting, rolling, assembly, fit-up, and fabrication processes across the shop floor.
- Coordinate closely with QA/QC, Planning, Procurement, and Project teams to ensure seamless production operations.
- Optimize manpower allocation, equipment utilization, and material flow to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.
- Monitor material consumption and implement measures to minimize waste and improve cost control.
- Prepare daily production reports, performance metrics, and progress updates for management and project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with international fabrication standards and codes, including Eurocodes, ASME, API, AWS, and relevant industry regulations.
- Support inspections, audits, and client visits by providing technical guidance and production status updates.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce fabrication cycle times, and improve overall manufacturing performance.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures rigorously, promoting a safe and productive working environment.
Experience
- Proven experience in structural steel fabrication and production management within industrial construction, energy, or heavy manufacturing projects.
- Hands-on experience working with reputable fabrication contractors involved in large-scale industrial projects such as energy plants, fertilizer facilities, steel structures, or EOT crane manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, rolling, assembly, and fit-up operations.
- Familiarity with WPS, PQR, and common welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and SAW.
- Understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, quality control procedures, and fabrication inspection requirements.
- Ability to read, interprets, and manages technical drawings, fabrication documents, and material take-offs accurately.
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and shop floor management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team supervision skills with the ability to coordinate multiple disciplines effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of manufacturing environments that emphasize safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement principles.
